Synopsis:
In the first episode of the series, Matt and Tiffany begin their journey by
visiting an Islamic study center in Maryland. There an Imam provides a tour
of the contemporary mosque, while helping them better understand Islam and
how one's overarching worldview--in this case those ideas formed by the study
of the Qur'an--impacts his or her concept of origins.
Matt joins the men in the reciting of the
prayer, while Tiffany gets a lesson from a young girl
on the proper usage of the hijab, the garment that covers
a woman's head for reasons of modesty.
They discover that while there are tensions
in the juxtaposition of religion and science, each worldview
demands a particular approach and set of framing questions
to understanding origins.

WORLDVIEW —
The framework of ideas and beliefs through which
someone
interprets the world and interacts with it. One
could call it biases, based upon experience and
education.
They are the “glasses” through which
we view what is and how things work. Theism and atheism
are two different worldviews; a belief in God would
greatly affect one’s understanding of reality,
just as much as a belief that there is no god would.

DEISM — The belief that God created the
universe, but has not been involved with it since,
leaving
only natural law to govern things. This idea rejects
the Bible (any authoritative revelation) and miracles.
It raises human reason to supremacy in determining
truth and morality.
