When the show began, I was finishing
my sophmore year in college, studying for a degree in biophysics.
I was active as a tutor in biology and physics, a resident
advisor in the dormitories and a self-professed Christian,
but I hadn't been baptized. Since our little adventure
has been over, I have stepped up my research, completing
two Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellowships and one
National Institute of Health Fellowship. I recently completed
my biophysics degree with highest honors and will shortly
commence a joint degree in medicine and PhD in Neuroscience
(MD/PhD) on a full scholarship. In the year after the show
finished, I decided that my non-literal view of genesis
and my respect for evolutionary theory were perfectly compatible
with being a Christian, culminating in a joyful baptism.

Favorite Scientific Fact or
Scientist and why: Enrico
Fermi was the first to achieve Sustainable Nuclear
Energy in
Chicago, December 2, 1942. There are discoveries
and proposals being made that could provide nuclear
plants
with a 0%
chance of meltdown and little chance of producing
weapons grade material. If we could fund this research,
there
is the possibility of achieving greater peace, safety
and
environmental responsibility throughout the world.

Favorite Quote: "Make
no little plans. They have no magic in
them to stir men's blood and probably themselves
will not be realized. Make big plans; aim
high in hope
and work, remembering that a noble, logical
diagram once recorded will never die, but long after
we are gone will
be a living thing, asserting itself with
ever growing insistency. Remember that our sons and
grandsons are going to do things
that would stagger us." -Daniel Burnham
